Services

Timonium, MD Buprenorphine and Methadone Treatment Services

Patients with opioid addiction in  Timonium, MD can find the support they need at MedMark Treatment Centers. Our outpatient clinics combine medication-assisted treatment (MAT) with counseling to support you during recovery. The services available at our clinic include:

Methadone and Buprenorphine Maintenance Treatment

MAT involves the use of medication to help patients manage their withdrawal symptoms. With fewer physical effects to handle, patients can better focus on learning recovery skills. At MedMark Timonium, we use two types of MAT medications:

  • Methadone: Methadone has decades of positive results in addiction care. If you receive methadone treatment, you will visit our clinic every day during the first stages of your MAT program. These appointments give you the structure you need to transition to recovery. Since methadone doesn’t have a “ceiling effect,” it works well for severe symptoms under a doctor’s supervision.
  • Buprenorphine: Buprenorphine is a newer medication that works similarly to methadone. While some patients benefit more from methadone, others get a better experience with buprenorphine depending on their history of drug misuse. Our experts will help you find the right choice for your symptoms.

Individual and Group Counseling

Behavioral therapy serves as the other core component of MAT. It has so much importance because it teaches you vital recovery skills that you will use for life. We offer two types of counseling at MedMark Timonium:

  • Individual: Every patient who participates in MAT also takes part in one-on-one therapy. You will have a personalized experience in counseling where your therapist will help you manage recovery. They will guide you as you find alternative activities to opioid use. During each session, you will set recovery goals and work toward them with your counselor’s support.
  • Group: Some patients also take part in group therapy sessions. During group therapy, patients come together with a counselor to talk about their recovery experiences. You will support each other in your progress and build community. Group counseling lets you understand that many other people have similar experiences.

Behavioral and Social Support Services

Our additional behavioral and social services give you extra support as you go through recovery:

  • Case management services: Your social worker will oversee your care plan and ensure you receive the services you need. They will communicate with your treatment team to coordinate services.
  • Relapse prevention education:  Our relapse prevention education services will help you handle the temptation to begin using opioids again. They also teach you what to do if relapse happens.
  • Referrals to community resources: It takes a collaborative effort to change a recovery patient’s life. We refer patients to community services that assist them with housing, food and other necessities.
  • Discharge planning: After a patient leaves our clinic, their path to recovery continues. If you decide to discontinue services, we will promote your success after treatment with comprehensive discharge services.

Holistic Wellness

Some of our patients also participate in holistic wellness activities like acupuncture. These services act as a way to relieve stress and manage withdrawal symptoms. The best supplemental services for your recovery will depend on your lifestyle and preferences. Your care team will help you find treatments and activities that help you stay healthy and motivated. They may refer you to holistic services like acupuncture or more traditional forms of medicine.
