What Is Telehealth?
Telehealth means you meet with a provider by phone or secure video. For opioid use disorder treatment, telehealth helps with parts of care such as counseling, care planning, follow-ups, education, and resource support.
Some services still happen at the clinic. Intake, medical exams, drug screens, and methadone dosing need in-person care.
How Telehealth Services Work
Your first appointment includes a full intake process. Your care providers review your health, opioid use, treatment needs, and next steps for care.
Your intake visit includes:
Photo ID review
Medical review
Assessment and drug screen
Intake counseling
Policy review
Initial dose, when approved
Plan for 2 to 3 hours. Scheduling ahead is recommended.
After intake, your care plan may include medication-assisted treatment (MAT), counseling, and support services. Your MedMark team will explain which services are available in person, by phone, or through telehealth.
Telehealth Therapy and Counseling
Counseling is part of treatment at every MedMark location. Telehealth counseling gives you time with a counselor from a private place.
Â
Your sessions focus on cravings, triggers, stress, trauma, relationships, coping skills, and relapse prevention. You’ll also learn how opioid use disorder affects the brain and body, so you understand patterns and build safer routines.
Â
Group and family counseling are offered at select centers. Your location will review local options.
Medication-Assisted Treatment and Telehealth Care
Medication-assisted treatment uses medication with counseling and support services. MAT helps reduce cravings and withdrawal so you can focus on daily stability. MedMark providers review each medication with you.
Methadone
Methadone is a long-acting full opioid agonist. It helps reduce cravings and withdrawal for people with opioid use disorder.
Â
Methadone treatment includes:
- Daily clinic dosing
- Dose monitoring
- Medical review
- Counseling
- Safety checks
Buprenorphine and Suboxone
Buprenorphine is a partial opioid agonist. Suboxone combines buprenorphine and naloxone. These medications reduce cravings and withdrawal with less opioid effect than full agonists.
Â
Your provider will review side effects, other medications, pregnancy needs, and dosing plans.
Benefits of Telehealth Addiction Treatment
Telehealth helps reduce barriers between clinic visits.
Â
You’ll receive:
Â
- Access to eligible visits from home
- More contact with your care team
- Private counseling support
- Help with stress and triggers
- Support for recovery goals
